   Despite the magnitude and being on the list of the biggest earthquakes in the world, the tremor had no record of victims because it is in a less inhabited area in Russia. Even so, the shock was felt even in Hawaii and the damage is estimated at US$ 1 million.

4. Sendai, Japão, 2011 – magnitude 9.1

The earthquake took place at a point at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, 130 kilometers from Sendai, accompanied by a giant wave that devastated much of the Japanese east coast. The force of the wave led to a nuclear accident at the Fukushima plant, 260 kilometers from Tokyo. The nuclear disaster is considered the largest after the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. Official data account for more than 15,000 deaths.

The worst earthquake in history killed 1,655 people and left more than 3,000 injured. Estimates put the damage at a cost of $550 million, with nearly 2 million people homeless. Reflections from the earthquake were felt miles away, with a tsunami that hit areas of Hawaii, Japan and the Philippines.
